COURSE AIM
To produce workers from the heights or confined space industry that are skilled in PPE inspection. Giving them the ability to inspect their teams / company personal protective equipment. Making their workplace safer and more cost effective, and getting the best life out of their equipment.
Course Details
Benefits
A worker trained in PPE Inspection has the ability to identify equipment faults, service both metal and fabric items to give them their best, safest and longest life. They can identify common areas of failure and concern on various pieces of height / confined space safety equipment. This course can save a company a great deal of money, when the maintenance can be conducted in-house, by people who actually understand the equipment and it’s use.
Duration
Depending on the level of previous training , will depend of whether a one or two day course is required. Details below:
One Day Height PPE Inspectors Course:
This option is available to a person that holds either unit standard 17600 (Explain Safe Work Practices at Height); or unit standard 23229 (Use a Safety Harness System When Working at Height). Their previous knowledge / training means that they can atend a one day course, only covering unit standard 19359: Identify, Inspect and Maintain Height Safety Equipment. Cost: $295 + GST (including NZQA credits).
Two Day Height PPE Inspectors Course:
For a trainee with no previous Working at Heights training. The first day covers the use of safety equipment for working at heights (unit standard 23229, detailed below), and then day two is the PPE inspectoin unit standard of 19359 (detailed below).
The course is specifically written to include the contents of the following Unit Standards:
- 23229: Use a Safety Harness System When Working at Height.
- 19359: Identify, Inspect and Maintain Height Safety Equipment (full course is $550 + GST, including NZQA credits).
What is involved?
Our PPE Inspection course has been designed to give trainees the appropriate theoretical and practical knowledge with the heights equipment to allow them to:
- Identify specific working at height safety equipment.
- Identify and interpret manufacturers instructions
- Identify manufacturers maintenance specifications
- Inspect and reject damaged or worn equipment
- Carry out maintenance procedures in accordance with manufactures specifications
- Record equipment in an equipment logbook
- Record maintenance procedures in the logbook
